The vast majority ‒ 85 percent ‒ of tampons, cotton and sanitary products tested in a new Argentinian study contained glyphosate, the key ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide, ruled a likely carcinogen by the World Health Organization.
Meanwhile, 62 percent of the samples tested positive for AMPA, glyphosate’s metabolite, according to the study, which was conducted by researchers at the Socio-Environmental Interaction Space (EMISA) of the University of La Plata in Argentina.
All of the raw and sterile cotton gauze analyzed in the study showed evidence of glyphosate, said Dr. Damian Marino, the study’s head researcher.
“Eighty-five percent of all samples tested positive for glyphosate and 62 percent for AMPA, which is the environmental metabolite, but in the case of cotton and sterile cotton gauze the figure was 100 percent,” Marino told Télam news agency. Oh my God. This is horrible. Cotton swabs are used in hospitals on a daily basis. I even use one daily to put the alcohol on my wife’s arm before giving her insulin shots. Now, Ill have to look for organic cotton swabs, and I am afraid that may not even be possible. I don’t know if they exist, at least here where I live. What a dismal world these Monsanto type companies have created, all for the sake of profit. I now believe the profit motive in capitalism has corrupted the morals of the entire system. Maybe we should look into Socialism as a solution to this obscene style of Capitalism which is killing us slowly with their man-made poisons.
