I am a former resident of Texas. My family and I decided to leave for a Blue state about two years ago. I was born there, lived all of my adult life there, and I am a 5th generation Texan. I also taught Texas history. With this background, I can say with a great deal of certainty that Texas will eventually secede again. I believe this will happen in the next ten to fifteen years. Texans believe in a Texas mythology which is not even remotely connected with the facts. Other states laugh, and rightly so, at the foolishness of the changes in Texas textbooks, but they have no idea how deep the ignorance goes. Secession will not be good for the USA or for Texas, but it will hurt Texas much more.
