Stephan:   One of the other signs of Fascism is its intolerance of open academic discourse. The Koch brothers have been tryingfor years to influence academe from the inside by funding fellowships, funded chairs, think thanks, and taking over entire departments endowing and hiring academics representing their views in an attempt to indoctrinate students into corporate Fascism. And now things are taking an even worse turn. Donald Trump's very personal attacks on individuals and his racist, nativist rants have, in turn, encouraged his followers to act out, as this article describes.  Open expression is essential to a thriving democracy, and reports such as this one, and there have been a number of them, I see as symptoms of a dying democracy.

A professor who gave a lecture criticizing Donald Trump, and the divisiveness and racist rhetoric of his presidential campaign, has gone into hiding after receiving death threats. (emphasis added)

Olga Perez Stable Cox, a psychology instructor at Orange Coast College, was secretly recorded by a student during a class days after the presidential election. In a video posted to YouTube on December 6, Cox expresses disappointment, fear and to a lesser degree, hopefulness about the future. The footage begins with Cox stating the incoming administration is led by a “white supremacist and a vice president that is one of the most anti-gay humans in this country.” She goes on to say that, “Our nation is divided, we have been assaulted, it’s an act of terrorism….And so we are in for a difficult time, but again, I do believe that we can get past that.

    Hi Stephan,

    There is yet another consideration for DT. As with JFK & his bro, RFK, perhaps even MLK, the system did them in. This is not guff. I found plenty of site evidence all over the Net, that the Pentagon has identified CC or Climate Change as if not #1, then close to the biggest security threat to the USA. Here’s the ‘esteemed’ Time magazine with theirs from last year.
