Stephan: In the fog of war it is often hard to find the bodies on the battlefield; this was the metaphorical image that came to me as I prepared today's SR. There are so many lies, deceptions, sleights-of-hand, finagles, and just garden variety corruption surrounding the Trump administration it is hard to keep one's eyes on the things that have long term consequences. I am speaking here particularly about the environment and climate change. So today I have dug out stories that focus on those issues. I finished today's edition even more disheartened about our future than I was when I started.
There’s something to be said in recognizing that we create our own reality, and that all in all, Mr. Trump and his gang are temporarily in place, and that truly, though we must act when we can and are inspired to make a difference, everything is always working out. It must. There’s a bigger hand in all of eons of lifetimes and this does not have to dishearten us. Now exists and the future is secured as it unfolds, and we all die. It will be okay — and I do want to hear your insights and cautions. There are upliftments everywhere. Let’s begin to talk about them.
Stephan, I thought just a few months ago, you were pretty upbeat on the future, but now you sound like I feel. Like I’ve felt since the mid-80’s. I read a book that is published annually by the Worldwatch Institute, which is a book of reports by experts in different industries. One factoid that really grabbed me was how much water it took to make a pound of beef. I think I remember that it said 200 gallons, but I’ve read lately several different figures. It’s a lot. Living in California in an ongoing drought situation, I thought, “Hey stupid. Time to give up meat.” And so I did. Watching the developments of this election has really taken a toll on me. I don’t trust the election process anymore, what with gerrymandering, tossing registered voters off the roles, and the underhanded shenanigans with both Hillary and Trump. Bernie Sanders should be our president right now. I did write to the DNC after Hillary pulled her crap on Bernie and told them they were crazy if they didn’t run Sanders against Trump. He would’ve won walking away. And now, with the Dems picking these party people to run the party, rather than following Bernie’s lead? Well, I’m jumping off for the first new party that forms. Take care and be happy we are old.

Just a few months ago I was upbeat. Then the election results came in, and you can see what’s happening.
Hi Stephan
I agree wholeheartedly about your description concerning the current “State of Affairs”, but I disagree with your premise of blaming Trump. He has only been an elected politician for 2 months. All of the issues you identify-corruption, lying, environmental degradation and deceiving were there LONG before Trump. Actually, Trump should be hailed as an “anti-hero” since his presence is getting people to wake-up, a little too late though. I find his show and demeanor to be refreshing since he is not hiding who he is. Unlike Obama who kept his crimes against humanity hidden with the support of the Press and social voices like yours. So instead of blaming Trump for these things-how about “thanking” him for waking people like you up!!!! You make it seem that the issues identified are his fault-and I thought you were above the “Blame Game”. So how about living the “Laws of Change” and realizing this-that the Reality we are in is “our fault” we all create it together-our leaders are just projections of the collective, not aberrations? We (you, I and everyone else) have been destroying the World on all levels through the paradigm of Consumer Capitalism for our entire lives! The disheartening you feel is related just as much to the notion that you are having problems clearing your own “corruption of the Soul” as much as the collective. We all lie, decieve ourselves and others, and “take” without balance-even the notion of profit is to get “more” than something is worth. So how about letting up and stop blaming Trump, this will not help anything and it actually is deceitful with regard to finding a solution?
Have a Great Day!!!
PS-I did not vote for Trump. I have voted for Third Party candidates my entire voting history starting in 1980-so I am not a Republican nor Democrat.
