A complicated and amazing design with so many aspects involved in making it work; building materials, water and root systems, specific plantings, seasonal maintenance, the effects of light (exterior an interior), wind, etc etc. – all explained in this article. I really hope it’s successful over the long term.

It’s interesting that Italy has the most professionally educated architects of any other nation. And that makes one wonder if growing up surrounded by architectural beauty has had a strong affect on the tradition.
