The Republican Party of Multnomah County, Oregon has elected to allow local right-wing militias to run security for them at events, as per the Portland Mercurynewspaper.
According to documents leaked to the Mercury, the Multnomah County Republicans voted Monday to allow the Oregon Three Percenters and Oath Keepers to “provide security services” for the party.
As the report noted, the fact that the Multnomah Republicans were weighing the option to have the anti-government Three Percenters do security for them was fairly-well-known. In the wake of the Portland MAX stabbings, they made the news again — this time for one of their members allegedly helping police arrest a protester at a pro-Donald Trump rally in Portland that is being investigated by the Justice Department.
The Multnomah Republicans cited partisan threats from left-wing protesters as the reason for needing security in the first place.
“The volunteers are afraid of going to Portland street fairs and Portland events because of what happened to them,” party chairman James Buchal told the Mercury. Buchal claimed that militia […]
I cannot say anything regarding the three percent group, however, I can say that my experience regarding Oathkeepers is that they are 100% non-violent and ethical while being assertive at the same time. The left wing has a demonstrated, documented problem with violence and have proven this over and over in the past year or so..but they do not want to look in the mirror. Militia is a part of history and the U.S. Constitution. Personally I do not think either party is worth defending, whatsoever.
I could not disagree with you more Mark R.
Fair enough. Please provide evidence that the Oathkeepers are violent. Has an Oathkeeper member harmed persons or property? If so, then i stand corrected. Please provide evidence that militias do not have the right to exist or have defensive capability. Were the left wing Berkeley protests this year not involving threats of violence and physical violence? Is it appropriate for a militia to be providing security for politicians? Perhaps we would agree that is not a good idea.
Are Oathkeepers considered a white supremacist militia simply because the Southern Poverty Law Center says so, then I am calling B.S. – not credible source. What is the evidence? Has there been a single incident where oathkeepers has harmed someone?
There was more violence and threats on the UC Berkley campus waged by left wing than from any militia mentioned in this article.
Who would Jesus bomb? I have an issue with right wing Christians pretending that they have a God given right to kill in the name of Jesus. It is more of the old manifest destiny self righteous delusion. Sentient beings know that we are all connected.
