Stephan: This is an absolutely amazing story, and wonderful news. If I had not seen it in one of science's leading journals I would not have believed it. It reads like something seen in a Star Trek movie. But it is real, and has been studied using a meticulous protocol at a major medical center witnessed or experienced by several dozen people. This is a huge deal which has the potential to transform medicine.

Researchers demonstrate a process known as tissue nanotransfection at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center. In laboratory tests, this process was able to heal the badly injured legs of mice in just three weeks with a single touch of this chip. The technology works by converting normal skin cells into vascular cells, which helped heal the wounds. Credit: The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.
Researchers at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and Ohio State’s College of Engineering have developed a new technology, Tissue Nanotransfection (TNT), that can generate any cell type of interest for treatment within the patient’s own body. This technology may be used to repair injured tissue or restore function of aging tissue, including organs, blood vessels and nerve cells.

“By using our novel nanochip technology, injured or compromised organs can be replaced. We have shown that skin is a fertile land where we can grow the elements of any organ that is declining,” said Dr. Chandan Sen, […]

Stephan: Almost 25 years ago I visited the MIT computer laboratories and saw what was then the first virtual reality technology, which they let me experience. I was stunned and ever since then I have been following this trend. This is where the technology is now.
As you read this think about how people would meet if, as many are predicting, air travel becomes more limited as a result of climate change. Remember the cancellation of flights out of Phoenix a few weeks ago as a result of high temperatures -- airplanes are built to fly within certain parameters of climate.

Today Neurable is offering a first look at a product that is without precedent in modern tech: a brain-computer interface for virtual reality. Our integrated platform is built for one purpose: to enable developers to create brain-controlled content for virtual reality.
Imagine the power of your mind in VR. You awake hanging upside down in a snowy cave to discover you’ve been captured by a hungry Wampa. Sighting your light saber laying just out of reach, you calm yourself, concentrate, and summon the power of the force to grab your weapon. You cut yourself free just in time to slay the fearsome predator.
This dramatic close encounter is, of course, a famous scene from Star Wars. Popular fiction has explored themes like magic, telekinesis, and other super-human powers for as long as we can remember. As a society, we’re fascinated by fantasy: our imagination yearns to explore the impossible, the forbidden, the otherworldly.
The advent of immersive […]

Stephan: The White Supremacists are planning to gather in two days, on the 12th, in Charlottesville, the home of Thomas Jefferson, and where he chose to found the University of Virginia. Since Trump was elected we have been seeing more and more such gatherings, and nothing is going to contain them but massive pushback from men and women who are disgusted by the ignorance and hate of White supremacists and their Christofascism.

The August 12 “Unite the Right” rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, looks like it will be the largest organized racist demonstration in recent memory. But that’s not the only reason it is important. First, while there have been dozens of far-right rallies since Trump’s election, this will be the first major, national rally run by the alt-right’s openly white nationalist wing. Second, after months of arguments, this is also an opportunity for a large swath of progressives to come together in opposition to the far right.
Charlottesville has seen multiple white nationalist rallies this year. The first, a May 2017 daytime event, was followed by a nighttime torchlight photo-op. Led by alt-right poster boy Richard Spencer, attendees chanted Nazi slogans like “blood and soil.” The second, in July, was a KKK rally. This time, counter-protesters were out in force; one outlet put the numbers at 30 KKK supporters versus 1,000 protesters. But the police arrested 23 counter-protesters, and some counter-protesters […]

Stephan: I see stories like this almost everyday. They have taught me a very clear lesson, although it took me a while to comprehend it. Evangelical Protestant clergy who are considered the intellectuals, the spiritual authorities in the Christofascist world, are astonishingly willfully ignorant; and they clearly place their idiosyncratic theology above humanity.

Texas megachurch pastor Robert Jeffress, one of President Trump’s evangelical advisers who preached the morning of his inauguration, has released a statement saying the president has the moral authority to “take out” North Korean leader Kim Jong Un.
“When it comes to how we should deal with evildoers, the Bible, in the book of Romans, is very clear: God has endowed rulers full power to use whatever means necessary — including war — to stop evil,” Jeffress said. “In the case of North Korea, God has given Trump authority to take out Kim Jong Un.”
Jeffress said in a phone interview that he was prompted to make the statement after Trump said that if North Korea’s threats to the United States continue, Pyongyang will be “met with fire and fury like the world has never seen.”
The biblical passage Romans 13 gives the government authority to deal with evildoers, Jeffress said. “That gives the government … the authority […]

TRAVIS GETTYS, - The Raw story
Stephan: The growing prominence of Christofascist White Supremacist militias is a trend that should concern every American who wants democracy to prosper. These are the Brownshirts of the Republican Party, which is covertly and sometimes overtly embracing them. Here's the latest.

A right-wing militias are walking out of the anti-government shadows and into the Republican Party apparatus.
Armed anti-government groups have faced existential tension after President Donald Trump’s election, but they’ve resolved the dilemma by forming a “counter-resistance” to protesters of President Donald Trump and providing security to Republican groups, reported The Trace.
Timothy Snyder, a Yale University historian, warned after the election to “watch out for the paramilitaries,” saying the “end is nigh” when “men with guns who have always claimed to be against the system start wearing uniforms and marching around with torches and pictures of a Leader.”
“When the pro-Leader paramilitary and the official police and military intermingle, the game is over,” Snyder warned.
That’s not quite what’s happening yet, but The Trace found at least five instances in three states where anti-government gun groups aligned themselves with conservative elected officials and GOP causes.
