16 attorneys general sue Scott Pruitt for blocking implementation of EPA smog rule

Stephan:  One of the many problems being created by the Trump administration and the Republican Party is that as the rest of the world is moving in one direction because this is a Christofascist faction, America at the Federal level is moving in another direction. I can't think of another example, as outlined in this report, where the real priorities of the Republican Party are clearer. This story screams, not speaks, screams, human life and wellbeing is less important than carbon profits. Make no mistake about that. But it is not all going their way. There is still life and health in the government at the state level, and some states are pushing back. Here's an example.

A Carbon energy power plant

A coalition of 16 state attorneys general filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency on Tuesday for delaying a rule intended to reduce emissions of smog-causing air pollutants.

The states contend that Administrator Scott Pruitt’s proposed one-year delay in compliance deadlines for the 2015 Ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standards violate the requirements of the Clean Air Act. The Obama-era regulation lowered the allowable concentration of ozone to 70 parts per billion, from the previous 75.

“By illegally blocking these vital clean air protections, Administrator Pruitt is endangering the health and safety of millions — but attorneys general have made clear: we won’t hesitate to fight back to protect our residents and our states,” New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman, who is leading the lawsuit, said in a statement.

Pruitt’s EPA counters that the one-year extension will provide the agency an […]

POTUS Shield: Trump’s Dominionist Prayer Warriors and the ‘Prophetic Order of the United States’

Stephan:  Here is the naked reality of Christofascism, and the aspirations of this faction. Wake up America, these people want a theocracy, they are no different that the mullahs of Iran or Saudi Arabia. The 2018 election is going to determine the course of America, and whether this madness will control our society. How you vote has never meant more than it will in this upcoming election

In the early morning hours of November 9, 2016, God told Frank Amedia that with Donald Trump having been elected president, Amedia and his fellow Trump-supporting “apostles” and “prophets” had a new mission. Thus was born POTUS Shield, a network of Pentecostal leaders devoted to helping Trump bring about the reign of God in America and the world.Amedia described the divine origins of POTUS Shield during a gathering that spread over three days in March 2017 at the northeastern Ohio church he pastors. Interspersed with Pentecostal worship, liturgical dancing, speaking in tongues, shofar blowing, and Israeli flag waving, Amedia and other POTUS Shield leaders put forth their vision for a Christian America and their plans to bring it to fruition through prayer, political engagement and organizing in all 50 states. Among the many decrees made at the event was that Islam must be “completely broken down.”

POTUS Shield’s leaders view politics as spiritual warfare, part of a great struggle between good and evil that is taking place continuously in “the heavenlies” and here on earth, where the righteous […]

Outback Steakhouse is a chain of Satan

Stephan:  Welcome to the fact free Christofascist reality of demons and Satan. It may be hard to believe that anyone takes this seriously but, they do, by the hundreds of thousands. Maybe more. This is the living breathing Neo-Medievalism Trend of the Christofascist worldview on display.

Is Outback Steakhouse the devil’s restaurant? Several twitter users mapped the location of Outbacks around some major cities to the shape of a pentacle or pentagram. Are the restaurant’s flame broiled steaks delivered rom Satan’s kitchen? Or is it just the fact that Outbacks are generally located in the suburbs around metropolitan areas? Outback’s response below. (WCPO)

The unexpected side effect of Trump’s war on science

Stephan:  Here is some excellent good news. There is push back to the Christofascist willful ignorance. This is the strength of democracy. Now we are going to find out if that is what Americans want. It will be up to you.

There’s something different about the crop of Democrats running for Congress in 2018. As in previous years, the party has recruited a small army of veterans in high-profile races and in Republican-held districts. There are loads of state legislators, business owners, and government officials.

But the candidates also include a volcanologist who’s worried that her favorite research spot will be opened up for development, an aerospace engineer who’s running against the climate-denying head of the House Science Committee, a pediatrician who spends part of the year treating leprosy patients in Vietnam, and a physicist who worries what budget cuts would mean to the federal research facility where she spent her career.

All told, more than a dozen Democratic candidates with science backgrounds have announced their candidacies for Congress or are expected to in the coming months. The boomlet of STEM-based candidates amounts to a minor seismic event in a community where politics and research have traditionally gone together like sodium and water. Trump has been in office just six months, but he’s already done something remarkable — he’s gotten scientists to run for office.

The surge of science-based candidates has been aided by a new political outfit called 314 Action, launched last summer […]

NAACP warns that women, people of color, LGBT “may not be safe” in travelling to Missouri

Stephan:  I haven't seen anything like this report since the 1950s.  In Red value states we are going retrograde, sliding back into racism and genderism, with astonishing rapidity, even as Blue value states are going in exactly the opposite direction. This is the latest in the Great Schism Trend.

Another Red value racist and genderist, Governor. Eric Greitens of Missouri. He’s a Republican of course.

On Wednesday national delegates from the NAACP voted to issue a “travel advisory” in Missouri, out of concern that civil rights will not be respected in the state.

According to Springfield News-Leader, women, people of color, LGBT people and those with disabilities have been told to “travel with extreme caution,” because “they may not be safe.”

“Our ongoing issues of racial profiling, discrimination, harassment and excess violence towards people of color have been further exacerbated by the passage and signing of [Senate Bill] 43,” Cheryl Clay, Springfield’s NAACP president, told News-Leader in a statement.

Clay was referencing the bill signed on June 30 by Gov. Eric Greitens which “modifies the Missouri Human Rights Act to make it more difficult to prove discrimination in housing and the workplace in courts of law,” News-Leader reported. Clay said that the legislation “rolls back civil rights protections for employees and whistleblowers.”

The NAACP has also accused the state of the following:

“Racial and ethnic disparities in Education, […]
