Landmark new research that involves analyzing millions of DNA barcodes has debunked much about what we know today about the evolution of species.
In a massive genetic study, senior research associate at the Program for the Human Environment at Rockefeller University Mark Stoeckle and University of Basel geneticist David Thaler discovered that virtually 90 percent of all animals on Earth appeared at right around the same time.
More specifically, they found out that 9 out of 10 animal species on the planet came to being at the same time as humans did some 100,000 to 200,000 years ago.
“This conclusion is very surprising,” says Thaler, “and I fought against it as hard as I could.”
What Is DNA Barcoding?
Over the last decade, hundreds of scientists collected around 5 million DNA barcodes from 100,000 animal species in different parts of the globe. Stoeckle […]
Growing up, we became fond of using a cliché to describe adopting a new idea into our belief paradigm: “That’s a stretch!” In the case of this article’s paradigm shift, it would seem that the rubber band has gone beyond the shrunken head state; perhaps even undergone a protocolectomy. hahaha Funny how the article doesn’t even discuss the fossil record. Was this after the 5th mass extinction? And what now, that humans are involved in their own so inspired and ignorantly enacted 6th mass extinction?
Okay, wait! At the very end it says that the last time there was sweeping genetic change was 65,000.000 years ago, after initially postulating that 90% of all animals suddenly appeared 100 to 200,000 years ago. Is this simply a confusing view of old versus new thinking?
That notwithstanding, this is a fascinating new line of investigation, if only for the study of mitochondrial DNA, and I appreciate knowing that this form exists!
If true, and replicable, this changes everything about our education about history and all the books will have to be rewritten. It also has extraordinary metaphysical ramifications.
