The Russian government’s campaign to interfere in the 2016 American presidential election in order to install Donald Trump in the White House may be one of the greatest intelligence operations in modern history.
What is publicly known is damning. Russia intelligence operatives and other foreign parties working in conjunction with them were able to influence (if not infiltrate) the highest levels of Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign staff and other parts of his inner circle. Many of those relationships may have continued well past his election as president. The apparent goal was to manipulate Trump and by extension America’s foreign policy in order to advance Russia’s and Vladimir Putin’s interests to the disadvantage of the United States and the West.
The Russian government also wanted to undermine faith in Western democracy by creating domestic chaos, uncertainty and a crisis of faith in liberal democratic social and political institutions. As special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into the Trump-Russia scandal continues, public evidence suggests that the worst case scenario seems much more likely than not to be […]
Without a doubt the biggest bot farms and echo chamber media players in social media (and regular media) are the Democrats and Republicans. Ditto on for the ground and grassroots protest organizations. #Resistance , #Indivisible #BlueWave #WomensMarch and thousands of others are all Democratic Party enabled.
It looks to me like the problem is not the media but the wrongdoing and injustice at the heart of our society. If everthing were rosy there would be nothing bad to write about so derogatory information would have to be disinformation which is generally quickly uncovered.
We have a greater difficulty in discovering the mythiical, in fact foundational non-truths we live by like… this is a democracy (Hillarys emails helped to overturn that idea)…that we are built on equality…disclosure of incarceration concentration of wealth statistics put that to lie…
The greatest danger I see in the Democrats current campaign against the internet is the likelihood (and this article is a precursor) of dissent being effectively banned which notably is already happening.
I am very active on Twitter and have seen a dramatic reduction in Russian bots, a small reduction in Palestinian bots and a virtual blooming of bots forwarding the Republican and Democratic Party’s ideas, candidates etc. .
Attempting to read this article on Salon makes me think that the Russians are manipulating the constant (every 5 seconds) change in digital advertising that almost makes it impossible to read. I wanted to stop reading about half way through because I was forced to scroll up or down to find where I had been 5 seconds ago. Very disconcerting. Great article, if one is allowed to read it without all the advertising interruptions. Note that Salon wants the reader to opt for advertising-less reading…probably for a fee.
