In one sense, this has been a difficult period for Fox News: a star anchor fired after being accused of sexual harassment, a lawsuit depicting a misogynist workplace, a top writer exposed as a racist internet troll, advertiser boycotts and outrage after Tucker Carlson called protesters “criminal mobs” and questioned the patriotism of a senator who lost her legs in Iraq.
In another sense, business has never been better.
In June and July, Fox News was the highest-rated television channel in the prime-time hours of 8 to 11 p.m. Not just on cable. Not just among news networks. All of television. The average live Fox News viewership in those hours outstripped cable rivals like CNN, MSNBC and ESPN, as well as the broadcast networks ABC, CBS and NBC, according to Nielsen.
That three-hour slotis a narrow but significant slice of TV real estate, and it is exceedingly rare for a basic-cable channel to outrank the Big Three broadcasters, which are available in more households and offer a wider variety of programming.

I am no FOX News fan but I think the very high BS level of all the US mainsteam news is the real problem. US MSM no longer do any investigative journalism and, in general, no fact checking. I have turned to international sources such as RT and AlJazeera (neither are advertising funded) and Internet sources that I find to be reliable.
To take a current subject, lots of people, lots of doctors and lots of studies show that HCQ appears to be the most effective drug against covid-19. But, you see just the opposite in US MSM and major social media networks. Bottom line: the general public doesn’t trust US MSM anymore.
Can’t tell for sure, but seems like they are comparing Fox news to each of the other news networks, rather than combining viewership for all the more liberal networks together and comparing that to Fox, which would be a more meaningful figure when trying to determine the major source of news for folks. Since Fox is almost the only far right source of news, and there are several major liberal sources, of course the liberal sources individually would have fewer viewers. But combine the liberal viewers and there could well be more of them than Fox viewers, a thought that brings me a lot more comfort than the headline of this article.
