Stephan: Faux Dictator Loser Trump and his head orc Moscow Mitch were relying on the three justices they put on the high court, plus Uncle Thomas and Alito to back their coup, but it didn't happen. However, in the process, they revealed that the Republican Party no longer supports nor wants a United States governed by a democracy. That can no longer even be debated.

Briskly rejecting a long-shot but high-stakes case, the U.S. Supreme Court on Friday tossed out the Texas lawsuit that had become a vehicle for Republicans across the country to contest President-elect Joe Biden’s victory.
In a few brief sentences, the high court said it would not consider the case for procedural reasons, because Texas lacked standing to bring it.
“Texas has not demonstrated a judicially cognizable interest in the manner in which another State conducts its elections,” the court wrote in an unsigned ruling Friday evening.
With Electoral College deadlines rapidly approaching, the ruling likely ends President Donald Trump’s bid to overturn the election results through the courts. The Texas attorney general’s office did not immediately return a request for comment Friday.

Stephan: Here are the Republican representatives who aligned themselves with the attempted coup by Loser Trump and the Texas AG. Go through the list, and if you see anyone from your state listed, starting today please organize a citizens action group committed to seeing that the Republican representative in your state who was part of this attempted coup is voted out of office in 2022. There has to be a price for participating in an attempt to overthrow democracy.
All 50 states have officially certified the results of the 2020 presidential election as of this week, reaffirming what has been known for over a month now: Joe Biden will be the next president of the United States.
And yet, on Thursday, 106 Republican members of Congress signed an amicus brief asking the Supreme Court to allow the state of Texas to file a lawsuit that seeks to invalidate the election results in the states of Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania, all of which President Donald Trump lost. On Friday, Republicans filed an updated brief to include an additional 20 members.
With electors scheduled to meet on Monday to officially name Biden the victor, it’s a long shot that the court will step in. On Tuesday, the Supreme Court justices denied a Republican effort to challenge a 2019 Pennsylvania law that expanded mail-in voting.
Among the representatives who signed on are several members who have just won races in the very states whose elections they now allege are so rife with “irregularities” that they want the court to throw out the results. There is no evidence of widespread electoral fraud.
Stephan: There can be no doubt, the Republican Party does not support the United States being a democracy. Period. Full stop. How do you feel about that? and I think it is important to recognize that just because their coup didn't work this time that they won't try again. The Republican Party is anti-American.

The Republican party is, as of this moment, an autocracy.
Consider: Why has the GOP gone crazy and insisted that the election was “stolen”?
The answer—the only answer—is: Because Donald Trump said so.
What if Trump emerged after the election and said, “Tough loss. Joe Biden put up a good fight. I’ll be back in 2024 to beat him like a drum.” Well, in that situation, there would be no move to overturn the election and no one in the precincts of Conservatism Inc. would be arguing that, ackshually, Donald Trump won by a landslide.
They would not be arguing that because there is no evidence for this argument. None. Absent a command from Trump, no outside observer would have come to this verdict on their own.
But present a command from Trump, this position became mandatory.
This is the definition of autocracy. And once you understand that the GOP itself has become an autocracy, it becomes easy to understand a lot of what’s going on.

Stephan: Just before the Court issued its dismissal statement Trump went on a crazed Twitter tantrum, aimed against the Court itself, anticipating I suspect his being a loser once again. Monday this criminal coup attempt should be over when the Electoral College votes and hands Loser Trump a final loss.
President Donald Trump Friday afternoon followed up his morning tweetstorm with an attack targeting the U.S. Supreme Court. Trump is now trying to pressure the nine justices to take up the “far-fetched” and “baseless” Texas case, supported by 17 other attorneys general, that would literally void the votes of millions of Americans in four states Trump lost.
“If the Supreme Court shows great Wisdom and Courage, the American People will win perhaps the most important case in history, and our Electoral Process will be respected again!” Trump tweeted, in an exceptionally false attempt to force the Court to take the case.
Stephan: 106 Republican members of the House have now aligned themselves with the seditious Texas lawsuit, to which 17 Republican AGs have also joined, to overthrow the election. It is undeniable now, to anyone who lives on Earth One where facts matter: the Republican Party advocates christofascist white supremacist authoritarianism. They do not support democracy, and if you believe in and support democracy you cannot be a Republican.

It’s becoming hard to find the right words to describe what Republicans have become at this moment in history. We can call them reckless in their eagerness to undermine the functioning of government. We can call them heartless in their willingness to deprive Americans of aid in such a desperate time. We can call them unhinged in their embrace of deranged conspiracy theories.
But now the Republican Party is quite literally becoming the enemy of America.
Consider the lawsuit filed by Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton asking the Supreme Court to essentially nullify the entire 2020 presidential election so it can be handed to President Trump, a suit about which Trump himself says, “This is the big one.” It might have been just one more ridiculous publicity stunt by one of the many corruptfools the GOP has managed to elect recently, but now, Republican attorneys general from 17 other states have filed a brief in support of the suit.
