Stephan: We are only a week into the Biden administration and already I see a new gestalt in the media, and it allows me to return SR to a balance that has been four years gone. Now I don't have to fill SR with what seemed a never-ending string of stories about Trumpian grifters, schemers, crooks, and hustlers. We have returned to integrity in government, and I can cover other trends, as I have done today.
I guess you love the new censorship and proposed police state to route out free speech. Sites that couldn’t be bothered to remove child pornography, now pull down all sorts of merely unpopular opinion. Democrats are cheering this on, the opposite of their historical stance. The Democrats of today are worrisome. Many of them seem to have never heard of McCarthyism or the idea of allowing speech that they disagree with. Very troubling. After a lifetime as a Democrat, I am not as sanguine as you about the future.
I know it is difficult to get out of an addiction but I urge you Lisa to wean yourself off of the fantasy world of rightwing media
No fantasy. Let’s take the less political world of alternative health as an example. Hundreds of you tube and Facebook accounts, many with opinions by board certified physicians about Covid or our childhood vaccination schedule (tripled since 1986 when vaccine makers received freedom from liability) or even supplements, have been shut down. Opinions that were disappeared in March as “false information” are now said to be true by the WHO. Getting all your news from Big Pharma may be your choice, but it is not mine. Another example: Attorney Robert F. Kennedy Jr. was criticized in two separate pieces in the New York Times, one a reported article, one an op-ed piece. He tried to reply in a letter saying. there were factual inaccuracies as well other points he wished to make. According to him, the Times refused to publish his letter. This defies all former standards of journalism. Wake up! Remember when lobotomy was an approved treatment for mental illness? How about Vioxx (killed thousands)? How about the not too distant past when doctors advertised cigarettes on TV? We need the free flow of information. Frequently the passage of time proves the minority opinion to be the truth. By the way, Iraq didn’t have weapons of mass destruction. During the next rush to war, will we able to discuss a variety of information or only the “truth” approved by special interests?
I, and my family, have been using holistic alternative healthcare since the early 1960s, working with MDs,both allopathic and homeopathic, osteopaths, chiropractors, and on and on. As for the rest, you obviously haven’t been reading SR very long, because if you had been you would know my views on all the stuff you list, and you would never have written that.
