Stephan: The Uvalde mass murder is being covered up. No one has been held accountable. Here is the current state of this tragic sorry situation.

“I’m not confident, 100%, in DPS because I think it’s a cover-up,” he said of the Texas Department of Public Safety, the lead agency tasked with identifying what led to well-armed officers waiting outside a classroom for more than an hour before engaging the gunman.
“McGraw’s covering up for maybe his agencies,” McLaughlin continued in his sharpest attack yet on Col. Steven McCraw, the DPS director.
Stephan: I do not understand the Democrats, their weaknesses are so obvious, their leadership is so weak, their inability to understand that the voter profile is such that over a third of Americans vote their emotions. That is what Trump understood. They don't seem to understand that you have to touch people emotionally with a vision of America that excites them, makes them proud, like John Kennedy did. Joe Biden is not going to do that.
This is my prediction at this point for 2024. Democrats: Newsom and Whitmore, Republicans: DeSantis and Noem.

It should come as little surprise that the Biden administration and Democratic leadership in Congress are doing hardly anything to protect reproductive rights following the fall of Roe v. Wade.
Speaking on “Meet the Press” this Sunday, Department of Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra made clear that his agency had little interest in exploring ways to use federal powers to ensure abortions remain available in states that have banned the procedure.
“Unless we’re all going to say the word of the Supreme Court will no longer have value, we have to heed the word of the Supreme Court,” Becerra said, before dismissing the suggestion — supported by a number of left-wing Democrats and rejected by the White House — of using federal lands to provide abortion services in states with bans.
This unbound deference to the moribund institution […]
Stephan: Four out of the 10 largest health systems in the United States are Catholic. Very few people seem to know that. They are all beholden to the Ethical and Religious Directives of the Roman Catholic Church, and that means they do not permit abortions, nor do they support contraception. This has now become an important factor in a post-Roe America. Here is a good explanation of what is involved.
Anyone familiar with how the Catholic church rolls would not be surprised that the Ethical and Religious Directives of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (ERDs) prohibit abortion and contraceptive — among other services like gender confirmation treatment, most fertility treatments and physician-assisted death — at a Catholic hospital. But Catholic doctrine is becoming a very big issue in subtler ways — in its ever widening role in American healthcare, and in the confusing, contradictory execution of religious dogma in medical options that can […]

Stephan: It tells you a great deal about the voters of the 14th District of Georgia, that they chose Majorie Taylor Greene. She makes no attempt to cover up who she is, or what she espouses. It will be interesting to see if they re-elect her in November. This is her take on the Highpark massacre. It is part of the Republican deflection to change the focus from what actually happened to nonsense. This is her response to the assault weapons crisis. Would you like to be represented by her?
Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, one of the least qualified, most repugnant people ever to serve in Congress.
“Now, here’s what I have to say,” Greene declared on her podcast. “I mean, two shootings on July 4, one in a rich white neighborhood and the other at a fireworks display.”
Stephan: This is how the most widely watched MAGAt spokesman is interpreting the Highland Park massacre. This is all about women nagging man-boys like Crimo, and marijuana-provoked violence. Really. That is seriously how he is describing what happened. This willful ignorance is what is killing our culture.
Carlson, during an episode of his show on Tuesday, weighed in on the appearance of 21-year-old Highland Park, Illinois, shooting suspect Robert E. Crimo.
Crimo has been charged with multiple counts of first-degree murder after allegedly killing at least seven people and injuring dozens of others at a Fourth of July parade in the Chicago suburb Monday.
Carlson, who questioned why Crimo didn’t “raise an alarm” on his show, claimed there’s “a lot” of men who look and act like him.
The right-wing commentator blamed social media, porn, video games and drugs for the actions of men accused of mass shootings.
“They are high on government-endorsed weed, ‘smoke some more, it’s good for you…’” Carlson said.
Carlson proceeded to claim that gunmen in massacres think they’ll be “worse” off than their parents.
“And yet the authorities in their lives ― mostly women ― never stops lecturing them about their so-called privilege.”
