Stephan: Here are the facts showing just how sick America has become.
To obtain the entire survey report from Monmouth University go to: https://www.monmouth.edu/polling-institute/documents/monmouthpoll_us_070522.pdf/
The survey found that just 10 percent said the country is headed in the right direction — an all-time low since the pollster began asking the question in 2013 — while 88 percent said it is on the wrong track.
The proportion of respondents who said the country is on the wrong track jumped by 9 percentage points from when the question was asked in May, which was also a record at the time.
Only 6 percent of Republicans said the country is headed in the right direction, compared to 18 percent of Democrats. Ninety-two percent of Republicans said the country has gotten off on the wrong track, as do 91 percent of independents and 8 in 10 Democrats.
Older Americans were more likely to believe the country is headed in the right direction.
Sixteen percent of those aged 55 and older said the U.S. is headed in the right direction, compared to 8 percent of […]
Stephan: To anyone looking at the United States from the outside it would be obvious that Americans place gun ownership, particularly combat weapons like the AR-15 or AK-47, above social wellbeing, and are willing to live with 18-22 year old White male losers routinely murdering masses of people. You have noticed I assume that all of these mass murders are being committed by White men. Not a single one has been committed by a Black man, a man of Chinese, Japanese, Brazilian, etc. etc. heritage.
With the shooting in Highland Park, Illinois, on the nation’s 246th birthday, the U.S. had marked its 309th mass shooting this year, according to a nonprofit that tracks gunfire incidents.
To date this year, there have been on average 11 mass shootings per week, the nonprofit Gun Violence Archive’s data show. The group classifies an incident as a mass shooting when four or more people, excluding the shooter, are shot or killed.
At least six people were killed and 30 or more wounded Monday when a gunman rained bullets down upon an Independence Day parade in an affluent suburb about 25 miles north of downtown Chicago. The gunman, who as of Monday afternoon was still at large, found his way to a rooftop to wreak his havoc as hundreds of people, including parents with strollers and kids on bikes, fled the scene.
On Monday evening, police identified 22-year-old area resident Robert Crimo III as a person of interest. He was driving a silver 2010 Honda Fit, and cops said he should be considered armed and dangerous.
Highland Park Police Commander Chris O’Neill urged […]
Stephan: It is a measure of how bad American public education has become that 1 out of 3 Americans can't even name the country from which we got independence, as is celebrated on the 4th of July. And most are so illiterate they can't even spell the word independence. We have become a country of morons.
Survey reveals that 2 in 3 young adults don’t know who America declared its independence from in 1776!
NEW YORK — Independence Day may be synonymous with summer, but a new survey finds many Americans should go back to school! It turns out one in three people don’t know how to spell “independence” — and even fewer know why Americans celebrate on the Fourth of July!
Specifically, the poll of 1,030 Americans, commissioned by Lawsuit.org, found over a third spell independence incorrectly. Moreover, researchers add that internet searches for “how to spell independence” skyrocket by 85 percent during the July 4th holiday weekend.
The most common way people misspell this important word in the American lexicon is by using an “a” — spelling it “independance.”
Other common misspellings include independense, indpendence, indiependence, and independents — which is actually a real word, but there’s no such thing as Independents Day.
Are you an indepen-dunce?
Spelling isn’t the only thing giving many people trouble on the Fourth of July. The survey also discovered that plenty of respondents deserve […]
Stephan: Thom Hartmann has it right. If you don't vote, and vote only for Democrats, you are voting to end the United States as a democracy, because ending democracy is what the Republicans are all about.
Six Republicans on the Supreme Court just announced — a story that has largely flown under the nation’s political radar — that they’ll consider pre-rigging the presidential election of 2024.
Here’s how one aspect of it could work out, if they go along with the GOP’s arguments that will be before the Court this October:
It’s November, 2024, and the presidential race between Biden and DeSantis has been tabulated by the states and called by the networks. Biden won 84,355,740 votes to DeSantis’ 77,366,412, clearly carrying the popular vote.
But the popular vote isn’t enough: George W. Bush lost to Al Gore by a half-million votes and Donald Trump lost to Hillary Clinton by 3 million votes but both ended up in the White House. What matters is the Electoral College vote, and that looks good for Biden, too.
As CNN is reporting, the outcome is a virtual clone of the 2020 election: Biden carries the same states he did that year and DeSantis gets all the Trump states. It’s 306 to 232 in the Electoral College, a 74-vote […]
Stephan: While the Supreme Court castrates the EPA at the same moment the European Union does something intelligent. The United States is becoming pathetic and destructive of humanity's wellbeing.

The European Commission has proposed a new law that would cut pesticide use in half by 2030 and completely ban the use of these chemicals near schools, playgrounds and hospitals. The proposal is part of a larger set of goals to reverse biodiversity loss and restore 20% of land and seas by the end of the decade.
The legislation provides €100 billion ($105 billion) for biodiversity-focused projects to ward off what European Commission Executive Vice President Frans Timmermans calls a “looming ecocide.”
According to the Pesticide Action Network of Europe, nearly 350,000 metric tons of pesticides were sold in Europe in 2019, primarily for agriculture. A 2017 report from the European Commission noted that pesticides cause pollution that directly impacts biodiversity and ecosystems.
“We need to reduce the use of chemical pesticides to protect our soil, air and food, and ultimately the […]
