Stephan: I have been telling my readers for over a decade that wherever Republicans have been voted into a control of a state that the social wellbeing of the people in that state declines. The question, of course, is why do the people in Red states vote for people who sabotage their wellbeing. The answer is fear, hate, racism, sexual dysfunction, resentment, and christofascism, if the voters are even smart enough to recognize what that is.
This may sound like a politically partisan comment, but it is not. It is simply a statement of objectively verifiable facts. Red states, particularly in the South, are beginning to look like failed states because the difference between the social outcome data of Blue states compared with Red states has become so pronounced.
The healthiest states in America are concentrated in the west and northeast of the U.S. – with Washington, Massachusetts and Utah leading the way, a new report finds
Meanwhile, the least healthy states are in the south – with the report naming Louisiana the worst off, followed by neighboring Mississippi and Alabama
Experts have blamed higher smoking rates and less ‘walkable’ cities as reason for the poorer health in many southern states
Southern states often have higher poverty rates as well, a factor often linked to many of the causes of poor health
Southern states are the least healthy in America, according to a new report.
NiceRx, and online pharmacy platform, gathered data on obesity, smoking rates, exercise levels and diet from 49 of 50 states, and used data to generate a ‘health score’ for each that rates the overall health of each state from zero to ten.
The bottom of the list is entirely made up by states in the U.S. South. Louisiana is the least healthiest state, with a score of 1.32. Nearby Mississippi (1.46 health score), Alabama (2.08), Kentucky […]
Stephan: I have been an experimentalist studying consciousness for over half a century, and all those decades of research, both mine and work by colleagues has taught me this truth. Max Planck's comment that consciousness is causal and fundamental, that space and time arises from consciousness not consciousness from space and time, and that all consciousness is interconnected and interdependent. Here is an odd but beguiling report that represents this reality. Further proof that we live in a matrix of consciousness.
Trees can hear us – at least, that is why I am utterly convinced about now.
Have you seen the latest viral trend on TikTok? People are asking trees to touch their shoulders and get this – most of the time, it’s actually happening!
Videos all over TikTok show what seemingly has a tree branch reaching out to touch someone’s shoulder or face after being asked to and it’s blowing my mind.
Can Trees Hear You?
After seeing video after video about trees being able to hear us, I went down that rabbit hole and turns out, a study says trees can actually hear us.
Among multiple research studies, the overarching conclusion has been even though plants don’t have ears, they can “hear” sounds in their local environment and can even react.
So, it may not seem so crazy after all.
Sure, some are not convinced and say it’s either wind or people attaching fishing line to make these trees seemingly touch someone but hey, the only […]
Stephan: I have been warning my readers for over a decade that this was coming, heat so great that ordinary life becomes very difficult. This is going to be the cause of one of the three great internal migrations that are going to happen in the U.S. If my wife and I owned property in these heat belt states I would begin to think about selling or moving before real estate values in that area crash, as they inevitably will. Think about it. How would you live in an area where temperatures of 125˚F became a regular event?
An area of intensely warm weather — a so-called “extreme heat belt” — with at least one day per year in which the heat index hits 125 Fahrenheit (52C), is expected to cover a US region home to more than 100 million people by the year 2053, according to a new study.
The research, carried out by nonprofit First Street Foundation, used a peer-reviewed model built with public and third-party data to estimate heat risk at what they called a “hyper-local” scale of 30 square meters.
First Street Foundation’s mission is to make climate risk modeling accessible to the public, government and industry representatives, such as real estate investors and insurers.
A key finding from the study was that heat exceeding the threshold of the National Weather Service’s highest category — called “Extreme Danger,” or above 125F — was expected to impact 8.1 million people in 2023 and grow to 107 million people in 2053, a 13-fold increase.
This would encompass a geographic region stretching from […]
Stephan: As the days go by each day seems to bring into focus another aspect of the Trump/Republican attempt to destroy the integrity of the American voting system. My question is: Given this evidence why haven't people like Sidney Powell been indicted, convicted, and sent to prison?
Donald Trump’s lawyers directed computer experts to copy sensitive data from Georgia election systems as part of a broad and well-organized effort to access voting equipment in multiple states.
Emails and other records obtained by the Washington Post show lawyers asked the forensic data firm Atlanta-based SullivanStrickler to access election systems in at least three key states, and attorneys for voting-security activists and Georgia voters said the documents confirmed the state’s election system had been copied.
“The breach is way beyond what we thought,” said attorney David D. Cross, who is representing the plaintiffs. “The scope of it is mind-blowing.”
The documents show attorney Sidney Powell dispatched a team to Michigan to copy a rural county’s election data and then helped arrange for them to do that in the Detroit area, and a Trump campaign attorney sent the team to Nevada, and SullivanStrickler experts copied data from a Dominion voting system in Coffee County, Georgia, on Jan. 7, 2021.
A criminal investigation is underway in Michigan against several individuals whose names […]
Stephan: MAGAt world not only doesn't live in a fact-based reality, they don't want children to be educated with facts. They want censorship of libraries and for children to be indoctrinated into the MAGAt fantasy fascist white supremacy only heterosexual world. I consider it good news that some librarians are pushing back, as this report describes.
A school librarian from Louisiana is suing two men for defamation after they accused her of wanting to keep “pornographic” material in the kids’ section at a parish library.
Why it matters: The librarian, Amanda Jones, is one of the first to fight back against accusations made against teachers and educators regarding LGBTQ materials.
Driving the news: Jones, president of the Louisiana Association of School Librarians, filed the lawsuit Wednesday, arguing that two men, Michael Lunsford and Ryan Thames, falsely accused her of being a pedophile who wanted to teach children about anal sex, NBC News reports.
The lawsuit points to the Citizens for a New Louisiana Facebook page, which has criticized “anti-censorship folks” who didn’t want to shift any “sexually explicit and erotic materials targeting eight to ten-year-olds” to the adult section of libraries.
