The Supreme Court could hand down a decision any day now in National Association for Gun Rights v. City of Naperville, a case that could legalize assault weapons and high-capacity magazines in all 50 states.
The case challenges a Naperville, Illinois, ordinance and a similar Illinois state law, both of which ban assault weapons, which the state law defines to include certain semiautomatic rifles such as AR-15s and AK-47s. Additionally, the state law prohibits the sale of a “large capacity ammunition feeding device,” which the statute defines as long gun magazines that hold more than 10 rounds of ammunition, or handgun magazines that hold more than 15 bullets.
The plaintiffs, which include a gun shop owner and a gun rights group, claim the two statutes violate the Second Amendment.
Should the Supreme Court accept that […]
It ain’t so much crazy people having guns as it is the guns they carry. I was in the army infantry and own guns because I hunted a good portion of my life after the military…Automatic assault rifles are the favored killing machine of those who commit mass murder. There is no place in the USA where AR’s made for the military should be allowed in civilian hands.
Was the 4th amendment negated by the second? You report that countries have put the US on Do Not Travel To lists because of the threat of daily mass shootings.
Who else finds it ‘funny’ that the text of those 4,543 words in the US constitution are never quoted in the press. The ‘law of the land’, Secure in person, speedy trial, Congress declare war…. what is a country ruled by words that cannot respect the word.
All people in the USA should be given the same “flack jackets” that the police wear if the Supreme Court does something stupid like allowing assault rifles to “mow us down” like sheeple. instead of treating us like people and not allowing these automatic rifles to exist.
