Donald Trump has said he would “encourage” Russia to attack any of the US’s Nato allies whom he considers to have not met their financial obligations.
The Joe Biden White House immediately rebuked the former president’s comments, saying in a statement: “Encouraging invasions of our closest allies by murderous regimes is appalling and unhinged – and it endangers American national security, global stability, and our economy at home.”
Jens Stoltenberg, Nato’s secretary-general, also lambasted Trump’s comments. “Nato remains ready and able to defend all allies,” Stoltenberg said in a statement.
“Any suggestion that allies will not defend each other undermines all of our security, including that of the US, and puts American and European soldiers at increased risk. I expect that regardless of who wins the presidential election the US will remain a strong and committed Nato ally.”
On the other hand, former Republican New Jersey governor Chris Christie said he thought it was “right for a president to say to a Nato […]
This is another example of lapses in memory vs good judgment. Sure, Biden has forgotten some leader’s name, but he never lacks in good judgment as does Trump. He’d disband NATO as quickly as he could, he supports autocrats over normal leaders throughout the world, he gave the ultra-rich and corporations the lowest tax rate in years which resulted in the largest debt in 4 years by ANY president. He has really poor judgment because his main focus is—–“How will I benefit from this personally or monetarily?” That’s his focus, not the well-being of Americans (like Joe Biden), not on world peace (as Biden does with keeping NATO going and adding to it), not on protecting Americans classified information and we all know how drastic were his doings with classified material. The list goes on and on and on. Give me a lapse in memory any time over poor judgment!!! Terri Quint
Re: the border issue
Why hasn’t any of the media delved into the cause of so many people wanting into or across our borders to other countires? Yes, there are people from other countries than just Central or South America that are trying to cross as well. The horrors that some of them are fleeing are heart rending!
Have the majority of those living in safety lost any empathy for those that are not?
The world needs to seek solutions for not hatred or fear of these people.
I also agree with you, Wilma.
I totally agree with you, Stephan.
