Our lives are being shortened, and we are being killed — the data says this literally — by corporations like 3M — that created and distributed throughout the world “forever chemicals” such as polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS). Why was this done? For profit of course. In my. opinion, these corporations should be fined billions of dollars and told they must come up with alternatives or go out of business. Common foods including white rice and eggs are linked to higher levels of “forever chemicals” in the body, new research from scientists at the Geisel School of Medicine at Dartmouth shows.
The researchers also found elevated levels of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) in people who consumed coffee, red meat, and seafood, based on plasma and breast milk samples of 3,000 pregnant people. The findings, published in Science of the Total Environment, add to the mounting evidence of the accumulation of PFAS, which were developed by chemical companies in the mid-20th century, in the natural environment and the body.

The Trump Campaign attempted to distance itself from the conservative Project 2025 playbook on Friday. Despite significant overlap between Project 2025 personnel and staffers from former president Donald Trump’s administration and campaign, Trump issued a statement saying he had “no idea who is behind” the project.
Project 2025 is spearheaded by the Heritage Foundation in partnership with dozens of rightwing advocacy organizations. It has two main components: First, a 900-page manifesto with a wish list for the first 180 days of the “next conservative administration,” including to further restrict abortion access and “dismantle the administrative state.” The second component is an application-only recruitment effort to ensure the administration is quickly staffed with loyalists.
On Friday, Trump disavowed Project 2025 in a post to Truth Social, his social media platform, saying he found unspecified parts of the project “absolutely ridiculous and abysmal.”
“I disagree with some of the things they’re saying and some of the things they’re saying are absolutely ridiculous and abysmal,” Trump wrote. “Anything they do, I wish them luck, but I have nothing to do with them.”

The christofascist cabal that controls the Supreme Court has openly and deliberately skewed the laws to reduce regulatory. oversight and protect corporate profits. This article describes what may happen as a result of several decisions to eliminate regulations. Although the economic data proves it is not the case, the fascist view of the Court, criminal Trump, and the MAGAts, if they even understand what is happening, is that fewer regulations create more profit and economic growth. That is not only not true, but this is about far more than economics. These decisions could prove catastrophic in terms of climate change.

On Tuesday the Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued a long-overdue draft standard protecting indoor and outdoor workers from exposure to excessive heat. Forty workers on average die every year from heat exposure. The proposed rule (click here to read the text) requires certain employers to provide workers with 15-minute rest breaks every two hours, to provide drinking water, and to take other commonsense measures.
“It will definitely be challenged” in court if there’s a second Biden administration, Jordan Barab, former deputy assistant labor secretary for OSHA, told me. (If Trump wins, he’ll probably kill the heat standard before it’s issued in final form.) Barab can be certain of that because “every OSHA standard for the past 50 years has been challenged by business interests.” The heat standard “will be the first one to be decided in the post-Chevron era.”

There are two trends I see going on in the United States about sexual imagery and sex in movies. One is the growing AI generation of fake porn being created particularly by schoolboys about their classmates (see SR archive). The other is the growing distaste for sexual imagery in the Gen Z generation (1997-2012), as described in this survey. What I don’t see in these trends is a growing acceptance of gender equality. In fact, in MAGAt world, equality is going strongly the other way.
Nearly half of Gen Z-ers (43%) admit to turning off a movie after encountering a sex scene — more than any other generation.
These are the results of our spicy new survey of 2,000 Americans, which found that 33% of all those polled have stopped watching a movie during a sex scene.Millennials were the least likely generation to let a sex scene get in the way of finishing the movie (26%).
Younger Americans and their tolerance of nudity and sex scenes in films has been a hot topic of discussion lately, and a recent study by The Economist found that nudity and sex scenes has dipped by nearly 40% since the year 2000.
Over one in four of those polled (27%) believe that sex scenes and nudity have “no place” in movies and TV now — baby boomers were found to be the most likely to feel this way (35%).
