Late last year, former President Donald Trump announced his endorsement of car dealership owner Bernie Moreno for Ohio’s Senate seat – elevating an untested candidate who’d never held public office over several other more prominent Republicans.
Two days later, Moreno’s campaign spent about $17,000 at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago resort, and then followed up by spending an additional $79,000 the next month – making him one of the Florida club’s top political spenders.
He wasn’t alone. With glitzy Mar-a-Lago fundraisers, stays at Trump’s hotels, and flights on the former president’s private jet, Republican candidates and political groups are on track to spend more on Trump’s businesses this year than any year since 2016, according to a CNN analysis of federal campaign finance data.
Trump himself has been the biggest spender, both this year and over the last decade. Between his three presidential campaigns, Trump and associated political groups have funneled more than $28 million in campaign donations to his businesses – helping convert the enthusiasm of his political supporters into personal profit.
Other Republicans have followed suit, spending millions at Trump’s […]
Trump is the most money-hungry politician that I can recall. Personally, with all his lawsuits, I think he decided to run for president again so DONORS could pay his legal fees. He has spent more than $100 MILLION on legal fees and has raised huge amounts of money. In fact, it was documented that DURING his presidency he made $250 MILLION on people staying at his hotel and golf clubs plus who knows what else—shoes, bibles, ? So, apparently, the Emoluments Clause of the Constitution means nothing! That’s really all he cares about because he certainly has no interest in our country. He sees the presidency as a money pit for himself, which is all he has ever cared about. Why should we be surprised? We knew about his attitude toward money even when he was building hotels because he went out of his way to find fault with contractors so he didn’t have to pay them. He’s known for that! That alone should made his MAGA base, who generally are not upper class and are hard-working Americans. not vote for him. How would they like to do a job and not get paid for it? That often happens with anyone he employs. In fact, no really good attorneys wanted to defend him because they know he doesn’t pay, so he has less than stellar legal defenders. Good! It’s best that we are done with him and he should spend a few years in jail. Maybe then he can think about the life he has lived and all the people he has harmed.
His Maga base wants to be Trump! They love his brashness, the way he gets away with being crude… Making money, cheating. He’s living the life they want to live. He is their hero.
Currently, the UK government is proposing to provide prison cells for rough sleepers, but not homes. Perhaps most importantly, people are being blamed and criminalised for their own destitution, which in many cases will have been caused by government policy.
