Record Rise in Global Methane Levels Threatens ‘Habitable Climate’

Stephan:

Every alarm bell is ringing, and yet the carbon power industries don’t give a damn. All the people who own and run these corporations care about is their short-term profit. They are overcome with greed and unable to see what humanity faces, and they own the politicians who should be holding them responsible for their behavior. This is why this election is so important your personal wellbeing, and your family’s wellbeing. Traitor Trump is “Drill, baby, drill.” Harris is not perfect about this but she is definitely better.

While 155 countries have committed to reducing methane emissions by 30 percent by 2030 under the Global Methane Pledge, new research reveals that the world’s methane emissions have been rising at a record pace over the last five years.

At least two-thirds of methane emissions produced each year come from human activities like agriculturefossil fuelslandfills and other waste, the Stanford Report said.

In a new perspective article published in Environmental Research Letters, the researchers warn this dire pattern “cannot continue if we are to maintain a habitable climate.” The article was published with corresponding figures in Earth System Science Data.

Both papers were produced by the Global Carbon Project, an initiative that tracks global greenhouse gas emissions and is chaired by Rob Jackson, a Stanford University scientist.

Concentrations of methane in the atmosphere have grown to more than 2.6 times what they were during pre-industrial times and the highest the planet has seen in 800,000-plus years.

“Right now, the goals of the Global Methane […]

Analysis Shows Trump Loyalists Have ‘Infiltrated’ Election Boards in Key States

Stephan:

The MAGAt cult is doing everything it can to rig the election and getting more desperate day-by-day as the polls favor Harris and Walz. They have no ethical standards about this at all. I suggest you contact whoever oversees voting in your area and ask them who new has joined the organization that oversees your election. Do they have any history of MAGAt involvement? If they do see if you can challenge the appointment. Those of us who support democracy. Those of us who want the United States to remain a democracy that fosters wellbeing need to not only vote but, where we can, get involved in the process.

More than 100 election officials across eight swing states in the U.S. presidential race have engaged in partisan election denial in recent years, raising fears they could try to turn the November result in favor of Republican nominee Donald Trump, according to a report released Friday.

The 88-page report, produced by the Center for Media and Democracy (CMD), details the election denial history of 102 county and state election officials in Arizona, Wisconsin, Georgia, Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. The authors found that election deniers have majority control of 15 county election boards in those states and of the statewide board in Georgia.

“What was striking to us about our research is how much election denialism and the voter fraud lie have infiltrated and taken over the Republican apparatus in each of these critical states,” Arn Pearson, CMD’s executive director, toldThe Guardian.

Trump’s ex-FBI official: We have ‘many reasons’ to think ex-president is a Russian ‘asset’

Stephan:

I hate these stories. I hate what this man is doing to our nation. The reality is, however, that even if traitor Trump loses the chaos he has created will continue because he is its voice, not its cause. The Great Schism Trend has become a cancer and the only way it is going to be cured is when enough of us commit to making fostering wellbeing are daily priority. All consciousness is interconnected and interdependent. When 10% of us are truly committed to making wellbeing our first priority. Why do I say this. Please go to my latest pordcast and spend a few minutes watching The Precognition that is Shaping Our World. This is probably the most important thing I have every told you.

Donald Trump could rightly be seen as a Russian asset, according to a former FBI director the ex-president fired in his first term.

Andrew McCabe appeared on the One Decision podcast co-hosted by former British intelligence agency chief Sir Richard Dearlove, who asked whether he thought it possible that Trump was a Russian asset, and he said, “I do, I do,” reported The Guardian.

“I don’t know that I would characterize it as [an] active, recruited, knowing asset in the way that people in the intelligence community think of that term,” McCabe said. “But I do think that Donald Trump has given us many reasons to question his approach to the Russia problem in the United States, and I think his approach to interacting with Vladimir Putin, be it phone calls, face-to-face meetings, the things that he has said in public about Putin, all raise significant questions.”

Above Appalachian Coalfields Is Wealth of Forest Botanicals Now Being Farmed and Conserved by Locals

Stephan:

Here, I am so glad, is some good news about one of my favorite places in America. I spent years hiking and backpacking in Appalachia, particularly the Appalachian Trail. I so many wonderful memories of those days and weeks, and was so glad to discover that other share that love of nature, and are working to restore it.

Despite the Central Appalachia ecosystem being historically famous as coal country, under this diverse broadleaf canopy lies a rich, biodiverse world of native plants helping to fill North America’s medicinal herb cabinet.

And it turns out that the very communities once reliant on the coalfields are now bringing this botanical diversity to the country.

“Many different Appalachian people, stretching from pre-colonization to today, have tended, harvested, sold, and used a vast number of forest botanicals like American ginseng, ramps, black cohosh, and goldenseal,” said Shannon Bell, Virginia Tech professor in the Dept. of Sociology. “These plants have long been integral to many Appalachians’ livelihoods and traditions.”
50% of the medicinal herbs, roots, and barks in the North American herbal supply chain are native to the Appalachian Mountains, and the bulk of these species are harvested or grown in Central Appalachia, which includes southern West Virginia, eastern Kentucky, far-southwest Virginia, and east Tennessee.

The United Plant Savers, a nonprofit with a focus on native medicinal plants and their habitats, has identified many of […]

Your Car Is No Longer a Sanctuary—It’s a Surveillance Tool

Stephan:

In the near future your car will spy on you, as this article describes. This is what is coming for our cars. It is not good news

Credit: Ford Motor Company

Since the days of Jack Kerouac, driving has been synonymous with a deep love for the open road. But that love affair is about to hit a speed bump.

Ford Motor Company is just one of many automakers advancing technology that weaponizes cars for mass surveillance. The freedom-loving company is currently pursuing a patent for technology that would allow vehicles to monitor the speed of nearby cars, capture images, and transmit data to law enforcement agencies. This would effectively turn vehicles into mobile surveillance units, sharing detailed information with both police and insurance companies. A Ford spokesperson said the patent is intended to be used by law enforcement only.

Ford’s initiative is part of a broader trend among car manufacturers, where vehicles are increasingly used to spy on drivers and harvest data. In today’s world, a smartphone can produce up to 3 gigabytes of data per hour, but recently manufactured cars can churn out up to 25 gigabytes per hour—and the cars […]
