A List of Monsanto Companies
Stephan: A number of you wrote to me asking for a reliable list of companies owned by Monsanto. It turns out there are several lists out there; it's harder than you might think to track the tentacles of Monsanto. But I finally found this one, about food related companies, that I think is reliable. Remember the 8 Laws and exercise your Quotidian Choice, and don't buy the products made by these companies.
Hi Stephen,
I think it would be more accurate to say that all of the above companies are either owned by Monstanto, or use genetically modified seeds sold by Monsanto. I’m referencing this article: http://www.thealternativedaily.com/monsanto-owned-companies-to-boycott/. To say that Monsanto actually owns Kraft/Phillip Morris is not factually correct, I believe…
Best to you,
Ben
I really doubt the veracity of this list. I don’t think Monsanto owns both Coke and Pepsi. And why is the reproduction so blurry? It can barely be read.
I don’t think much of Monsanto, but I don’t believe this list either.
These are companies that USE Monsanto products. To see the list clearly you need to click all the way through to the source article. The intro clarifies it all: “Here’s a simple, printable list of companies that use Monsanto products. By avoiding products made by companies on this list, you can help ensure your money isn’t going to Monsanto and also watch out for the health of your family and yourself.” Yes, the source article was over-zealously and inaccurately titled “Monsanto Owned Food Producers”, unfortunately. On Monsanto’s website I find “Monsanto provides seeds to farmers in eight row crops: alfalfa, canola, corn, cotton, sorghum, soybeans, sugarbeets and wheat.” One can see how one company controlling all those crops can infiltrate nearly every other food producer. It would be interesting to see a list of what food producers Do Not Buy any seed or Monsanto-originated crops, feed, or downstream products such as high fructose corn syrup. And what meat producers do not use any Monsanto related feed. I would imagine grass fed beef, pastured chickens, and free range goats and sheep might be the only livestock to be exceptions.
What needs repeating is that there are 4 main GMO crops that should be avoided regardless of who owns what company producing them. Unless otherwise stated, as being organically grown or Non-GMO, those 4 main crops are cotton (cottonseed oil), corn, soya and canola. 95% of all french fries are cooked in canola. It’s cheap…and dirty.
