From a new Supreme Court ruling to a census question about citizenship, the campaign against illegal registration is thriving. But when the top proponent was challenged in a Kansas courtroom to prove that such fraud is rampant, the claims went up in smoke.
In the end, the decision seemed inevitable. After a seven-day trial in Kansas City federal court in March, in which Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach needed to be tutored on basic trial procedure by the judge and was found in contempt for his “willful failure” to obey a ruling, even he knew his chances were slim. Kobach told The Kansas City Star at the time that he expected the judge would rule against him (though he expressed optimism in his chances on appeal).
Sure enough, yesterday federal Judge Julie Robinson overturned the law that Kobach was defending as lead counsel for the state, dealing him an unalloyed defeat. The statute, championed by Kobach and […]
What would happen if they tested for voter fraud in California?
They did, it is not an issue.
Historically, only 25% to 35% of registered voters cast ballots in Ca for gubinatorial elections. That range increases to between 30% and 60% for presidential. I estimate that the 65%+ of voters not voting in last month’s election had a much larger impact on our democracy than voter fraud. Don’t be fooled by the politicians pretending to stand up for our democracy by making it harder to vote. If they wanted democracy to be stronger, they would have a much larger impact by promoting higher voter turnout, rather than a thinly veiled attempt to do the opposite.
The christofascists are relying on the continuing, while their voter base actually votes.
I cannot even get my step-children and grand children to register and vote, especially after Bernie Sanders threw away his chance to get elected by giving away his base to Hillary. If Bernie would have stood up and said vote for me by writing in my name, I believe he could have pulled it off and won the election. I know he had more supporters than anyone else; he blew it, and I do not know why.
