Robert Reich, in this essay mirrors what I have been saying for weeks now. Trump and the Republicans are destroying the country. As I write this they are trying to limit food programs; stack the judiciary branch of government with incompetent (by expert evaluation) ideologues; limit healthcare, and make what healthcare there is stingier and more difficult; sabotage science, in the belief if you hide the numbers what is going on won't be obvious. The list goes on and on, and only the rich are prospering.
And yet, according to FiveThirtyEight, 43.4% of Americans approve of Trump and what he is doing, even as they live the results. I just can't get my head around it.

I find it interesting that this article appears in a British publication. I wonder how many american would be able to read it via their local or even US based media?
I have always been a big fan of Robert Reich, who consistently has warned that the parasitic triumph of the billionaire class, epitomized by the “election” of Donald Trump and his corrupt Republican regime, not only represents the end of democracy, but the feudalization of the American population. We are becoming a nation of serfs – wage slaves without education, health care, or an equitable share of the common wealth – by the “elites”, again epitomized by Trump, who barely make any effort any more to hide their contempt. And it is indeed impossible to understand why so many Americans are marching right along with it, wearing red hats and shouting “make America great again”, even as anything that did make America great, education, environmental protection, the arts, science, labor protections……………..are becoming lost.
It is just what we should expect from an autocrat who wants to get rid of the poor and establish the Military Industrial Banking Complex as the sole benefactor of this crisis thus making us a complete oligarchy with Trump as the dictator at the top, just like Hitler.
