
The United States is famously known as a nation of immigrants. Tens of millions of people from around the world have come seeking the American dream. Millions more wish they could do the same. But what about the people that want to leave America?
As of 2020, almost three million people born in the US were living in different countries. American emigrants go everywhere—Mexico, Canada, Europe, Australia, Singapore… no other country has sent as many emigrants to as many places.
Could America also be called a nation of emigrants? We wanted to see what Gen Z thinks about living abroad. Are more young people looking to leave? If so, why—and where? We surveyed 3,000 Americans aged 18 to 26 to find out. Some of their dream destinations might surprise you!

What an interesting graphic for this article. I wonder if the airplanes in the graphic are B-52 bombers? The United States has bombed or invaded at least 20 countries over the past 50 years. Yet our constant state of war is not mentioned in the article as a reason to leave. Interesting.
