Sixteen Nobel prize-winning economists are jumping into the presidential campaign with a stark warning: Former President Trump‘s plans would reignite inflation and cause lasting harm to the global economy if he wins in November.
Why it matters: The Nobel laureates are lending their academic prestige to a political argument the Biden administration has been making for weeks: Inflation would be worse under Trump.
- “While each of us has different views on the particulars of various economic policies, we all agree that Joe Biden’s economic agenda is vastly superior to Donald Trump,” the 16 economists write in a letter, first obtained by Axios.
Zoom in: Since prices spiked in the summer of 2022, Democrats have been playing defense on the economy.
- But their various explanations — including a brief embrace of the term “Bidenomics” and big media buys — don’t seem to have worked.
- Voters aren’t vibing with an economy that the White House says is great.
- Now Biden’s team wants to go on offense and draw attention to […]
Oh, so, isn’t that sweet. 16 Nobel Prize winning economists bashing Donald Trump’s economic plans due to inflation fears. The profession which has been whoring itself out to commercial interests for decades is now warning us about a presidential candidate they don’t like. An economist will say anything you want if you pay them enough. These are the same group that came up with the fairy tales of “A rising tide lifts all boats”, and “Free trade will help the American Worker”. Tales to sooth children from becoming upset. If any other profession has been as wrong as economists over the years they would be incarcerated for malpractice, but this group is insulated from the effects of their practice through their inside the beltway lifestyle, and being in the ivory tower. The worst part, dear reader, is that it appears they believe their own numbers. Their selling point to the workers of “don’t believe your own experience, it’s not as bad as you think”is long past its sell by date. The American Worker has been stabbed in the back for so long they no longer trust those in authority, not should they. The Democrats hope that 18 months of focus on a worker agenda will wipe out decades of betrayal. We will see how short the worker’s memory actually is. What a better life for your family? Think outside the box.
