Adding to alarm over U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s immigration plans, his “border czar” toldThe Washington Post in an interview published Thursday that the administration plans to return to detaining migrant families with children.
Tom Homan, who served as acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement during Trump’s first term, said that ICE “will look to hold parents with children in ‘soft-sided’ tent structures similar to those used by U.S. border officials to handle immigration surges,” the Post summarized. “The government will not hesitate to deport parents who are in the country illegally, even if they have young U.S.-born children, he added, leaving it to those families to decide whether to exit together or be split up.”

There is no question Homan looks like a thug because he IS a thug! In Trump’s previous administration, it was he who pushed the separation of families. He was in charge of that debacle! And now we’ll have more of the same. But the brighter outlook is that the MAGA base has finally awakened and realized what this means to our country and our economy. Take away these very hard-working people, which they are and also with a much lower crime rate than American citizens, and businesses will have to hire Americans for jobs they wouldn’t take before! Now they will have to pay much higher wages and there goes the economy! Wait until that uproar begins and, hopefully, Americans during the 2026 elections will realize that Dems have to once again take over the House and Senate. Trump’s administration is filled with greedy extremely wealthy people—multi-billionaires!—and those who despise anyone who is not White and Christian. Not a great combination to move our country forward, that’s for sure! So they will pay the price for their greed and antipathy for people of color and immigrants. They just forget that all of us were initially once either an immigrant or an offspring of someone in their family who was! That is what made America great—not these haters and greedy people!
We’ll have to see what the younger generations do. Historically, they are the ones who nourished and practiced rebellion. As you and I both know, a great number of them have left traditional religious groups and practices.
