Stephan: I don't know whether Trump and his appointees don't believe in climate change, or believe in it but have some other agenda, or are simply unsophisticated and out of their depth. One can only assess their actions. And they have made it clear that they are unable to see that climate change is the pivotal geopolitical leverage point of the age.
Europe gets it, Here is a German assessment of the Trump Administration widely shared in Europe. You can see the American wave ebb in their calculations.
And by its actions it is now obvious China does too, as well as seeing the geopolitical and business opportunity climate change represents.
For 100 years, the United States was the leader of the free world. With the election of Donald Trump, America has now abdicated that role. It is time for Europe, and Angela Merkel, to step into the void.
Even history sometimes leans toward pathos. In January 2017, when Donald Trump is sworn in as the 45th president of the United States, the American Age will celebrate its 100th birthday — and its funeral.
The West was constituted in its modern form in January 1917. World War I was raging in Europe at the time and in Washington, D.C., President Woodrow Wilson told his country that it was time for Americans to take responsibility for “peace and justice.” In April he said: “The world must be made safe for democracy.” He declared war on Germany and sent soldiers to Europe to secure victory for the Western democracies — and the United States assumed the leadership of the Western world. It was an early phase of political globalization.
One hundred years later: Trump.
Trump, who wants nothing to do with globalization; Trump, who preaches American nationalism, isolation, partial withdrawal from world trade and zero responsibility for a global […]

Stephan: Nearly two million Americans are currently part of the new slavery in the American Gulag, most of them enslaved because of nonviolent drug crimes, and they are overwhelmingly Black or Hispanic.
This is a moral disgrace and a cancer on our society, and you won't hear a word about it in the current campaign season. Here is an insider's story of what an American private prison is really like. Corrections Corporation of America is an evil corporation right up there with Monsanto.
Grotesque over-crowding is commonplace in America’s gulag.

Chapter 1: “Inmates Run This Bitch”
Have you ever had a riot?” I ask a recruiter from a prison run by the Corrections Corporation of America (CCA).
“The last riot we had was two years ago,” he says over the phone.
“Yeah, but that was with the Puerto Ricans!” says a woman’s voice, cutting in. “We got rid of them.”
“When can you start?” the man asks.
I tell him I need to think it over.
I take a breath. Am I really going to become a prison guard? Now that it might actually happen, it feels scary and a bit extreme.
I started applying for jobs in private prisons because I wanted to see the inner workings of an industry that holds 131,000 of the nation’s 1.6 million prisoners. As a journalist, […]

Stephan: This is so Orwellian and horrifying it will take your breathe away. This is the story of Accelerated Christian Education schools (ACE), a Rightist Christian movement, like Quiverful, only much larger that began in the Theocratic Rightist Red value states in the U.S. spread across this country and is now actively growing in other countries. This is why I believe the Theocratic Right, of whatever faith, is the most toxic social force in the world today.
Schoolgirls at a mainstream school. Those at ACE schools were told they must submit to men PA
Christian fundamentalist schools are teaching children creationism is fact, that gay people are “unnatural” and that girls must submit to men, according to a series of claims.
Former pupils and whistle-blowers have told The Independent that the schools, which originated in the US but are now dotted around the UK and registered as independent or private schools, teach children at isolated desks separated by “dividers” from other students. It is thought more than a thousand children are being taught at dozens of schools, although little is known about them.
“No one outside the schools knows about what happens inside them, that’s why they’ve been able to go on like this for so long,” a former pupil said.
More than a […]

Caroline Chen, Reporter - Bloomberg Business
Stephan: Here is the latest in the Homo Superior Trend. As you can see the reality of this trend is beginning to dawn on others, although they still think in the pharmaceutical model, as does this report does, but it details why I think this trend is inevitable — there is just too much profit to be made. And it offers Big Pharma a path out through the desolation of antibiotic medicine collapse.
However, I don't think that is the real play. Genetic engineering, coupled with mining large DNA databases, in a world in which everyone's DNA is collected -- will allow us to make chronic diseases ]disappear in the developed world within a century.
But there is a dark side.
Homo Superior may sound like science fiction but it very real trend, and occurring with surprising rapidity, and almost no ethical oversight. This trend concerns me a lot because I can see that the 1 per cent, because they will have the money, will adopt this very quickly, as who wouldn't, and new human species will emerge: Homo Superior. The two species road could result in a new form of slavery. Homo Sapiens will inevitably become a peasant species ruled by the smarter, handsomer, more physically gifted, healthier, and longer living Homo Superiors, who will also have most of the wealth and, thus, government control.

Steven Pete can put his hand on a hot stove or step on a piece of glass and not feel a thing, all because of a quirk in his genes. Only a few dozen people in the world share Pete’s congenital insensitivity to pain. Drug companies see riches in his rare mutation. They also have their eye on people like Timothy Dreyer, 25, who has bones so dense he could walk away from accidents that would leave others with broken limbs. About 100 people have sclerosteosis, Dreyer’s condition.
Both men’s apparent superpowers come from exceedingly uncommon deviations in their DNA. They are genetic outliers, coveted by drug companies Amgen, Genentech, and others in search of drugs for some of the industry’s biggest, most lucrative markets.
Their genes also have caused the two men enormous suffering. Pete’s parents first realized something was wrong when, as a teething baby, their son almost chewed off his tongue. “That was a giant red flag,” says Pete, now 34 and living in Kelso, Wash. It […]

Stephan: Here we can see the naked self-righteousness and sense of persecution of the Theocratic Right. That this report is about an attorney working for the Chief Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court demonstrates the toxic hate and sexual dysfunction that are the hallmarks of this minority and shows how this view has invaded Alabama's judicial system. Read the letter, it is quite amazing coming from an attorney on the public payroll.

Alabama attorney Win Johnson who works for Alabama Supreme Court Justice Roy Moore
In harsh words and a lecturing tone, a lawyer who works for Alabama Supreme Court Chief Justice Roy Moore has written a letter seemingly directed at Gov. Robert Bentley rebuking him for saying Alabama will obey the U.S. Supreme Court ruling declaring same-sex marriage legal.
While the letter from attorney Win Johnson never calls Bentley by name or title, a spokeswoman for Bentley said the letter was directed at the governor.
“Public official, what will you do? Will you stand up for […]
